With Matthew freshly potty trained, we decided to bring the potty chair with us on vacation. On the way to Muncie (from Indianapolis), Matthew yelled “DADDY!!! I NEED TO GO PEE PEE!!!!” Mike got off the highway right away but we were at an exit where they were building a business park. There wasn’t anywhere we could take Matthew so we pulled the potty chair out of the car and let him go in the road on a dead end. We had a similar experience on the way back home to Buffalo yesterday. LOL
He wasn’t naked in the picture above, by the way. The boys had been playing at the splash pad at the Indianapolis Zoo and we changed them out of their wet clothes in the zoo parking lot before leaving. Since the car was really hot after sitting in the sun all day, we just let them go topless in the car. 🙂
It was a long, tiring week out of town and we’re finally home. I’m about a month behind on pictures so sharing will take some time but for now, I’ll leave you with some pictures of the cutest nephew and niece a girl could have. 😉
(Yes, those are bruises on both their foreheads and yes, that is chocolate all over Kaitlyn’s face. But aren’t they cute?!?!?!)
REHEARSAL
About two-thirds of the wedding party before the rehearsal started:
Nick and Rachel with Ian at the rehearsal dinner:
WEDDING DAY
Rachel, Courtney and I got our hair done then, while mom was getting dolled up at the salon, we ran to Target for some essentials: Mt Dew, wedding-pic-friendly umbrella and socks for Kaitlyn to wear.
Why, yes we did make a scene at Target. 🙂
Target didn’t have socks so we walked over to Babies R Us.
Please note the umbrella and Mt Dew. 🙂
Time to get ready!!!
Rachel and Kaitlyn, two pretty ladies:
Getting her face on:
The dress is ready to go!
She’s ready!
Not happy to wear a tux:

Doing post-ceremony pics:
Before the reception started, I asked Jackie to take some pictures of us:
Ian wasn’t amused.
We asked Mike’s sister, Jackie, to come to the wedding to help us out. With me standing up and Mike doing a reading, we needed someone to keep an eye on Matthew. Keeping both boys happy all day was a big job and Jackie’s help was priceless. Thank you so much!!!!
Reception pics:
Ian, Matthew and Andrew were darn near the life of the reception. I think Rachel was able to outshine them in the end but it was a pretty close race for the #1 position.
They started getting their dance moves on before dinner was served and the DJ actually played them some special music before the festivities began:
Totally out of focus but it was sooo cute.
After dinner dancing:
They even lined up for the garter toss:
I’m not sure there was a female in the building that Ian didn’t dance with. He was pulling people out of their chairs and getting them on the dance floor!
It’s exhausting to be that cute:
Dancing with Daddy:
Despite the fact there was rain forecasted all day long and it sprinkled in the morning, the rain held off until after the reception started. And, holy cow, did it rain! It was a torrential downpour!
We had such a great day and so much fun. The boys were able to stay at the reception until it ended at 11PM! Needless to say, the next day we were absolutely EXHAUSTED and super pumped that Ian’s tball game was rained out. All we did was hang out at home in our jammies!
Back in May, Ian had his final field trip to Kelkenberg Farm in Akron. And shockingly (NOT), it was a cold, wet, sloppy mess.
Waiting for the tour to begin:
Listening to the farmer give instructions:

Random rooster that cock-a-doodle-doodled across our path:
It’s been a while since we self-portraited. Did you miss it? 😉
Watching the horses in the field:
Burt, the giant horse:
Seriously, it was pretty much as tall as Mike.
DO NOT FEED MIKE!
(I think he was saying “dork” as I took the picture. Why, yes, I am. LOL)
A real life John Deere tractor driven by a real life farmer!
Ian’s class learning about goats:
Learning about what chickens eat and getting to feed some:
Did you watch that video to the end? Ian was the only child in his class that said “thank you” when he got his corn and the farmer gave him a second handful to throw because he was so polite. 🙂
