Less stressful than the first day!

Although still a little confusing! LOL

HERE COMES THE BUS!!!!

OR NOT!

After waiting ages for the bus to come back and a long call to the transportation department, they sent the bus back. It was empty because it had already dropped the original busload of kids off at the school.
HERE IT COMES AGAIN!!!

Apparently there was some confusion about the bus route and the list of children needing to be picked up being in opposite orders. I don’t know. We had more issues the rest of the first week of school and then things seemed to get under control the following week.
We went over to the school to see them get off the bus. There were 5 kids on the bus so she didn’t just miss Ian and Matthew. I really suspect there were more that she missed. We watched the people down the street drive their son into school and we think there were others that did the same.

Looking out at us from the second row!

I got a kiss from Matthew before he went to school. Seeing them walk into school went far to ease MY first day nerves. Especially after the bus debacle. LOL

Coming home!

Matthew got off the bus and initially ran across the street without waiting for the signal to cross. We sent him back so that he understood that he had to wait for permission to cross going forward. Being sent across the street put him in a grouchy mood unfortunately.
After a month in school, things are going really well. We’ve settled into a rhythm and Matthew seems to be adjusting. We had issues for a few weeks where he’d come home from school and be miserably grouchy. I think we’re mostly past that adjustment period. 🙂

Matthew had a friend come over to play over Labor Day weekend. Pretty cute. 🙂

At the end of August, I had to go to Albuquerque for a few days for work. It was a short trip so I didn’t get to do any sight-seeing. Here are some pictures from my trip. Mostly pics from the window of my plane. 🙂
On my flight to Atlanta, this sweet puppy flew next to me. He was put under the seat in front of his owner and was quiet the entire time.

My mom has never flown before so I was trying to take some pictures of what it looks like….

Downtown Atlanta as we approached the runway

The mountains outside of Albuquerque. Albuquerque is very brown. LOL

Taxing to our gate

Rainbow over the mountains

Being 2 hours behind time-wise really worked in my favor in the morning. I’d wake up at 6am Eastern and have like 4 hours to chill before heading to the office. (I did a lot of reading.) It kind of sucked in the evening when I wanted to go to bed at 8pm but what can you do? LOL
Sunrise as seen from my hotel room window

If you look closely, you can see 2 hot air balloons in the air.

Another rainbow

We went to dinner with a bunch of people one night at a famous New Mexican restaurant (El Pinto). While we were eating on the (covered) back patio, it started seriously pouring. Like, we had to use glasses and pitchers of water to catch the rain that was leaking through the roof. LOL
I took the picture below of the patio behind us but you can’t really tell it was raining. You can kind of see the rain splashing on the ground (bottom left) and the rain coming down above the chilis on the top right. It was kind of nuts. I didn’t expect a massive rainstorm in the desert in the middle of the summer! LOL

More hot air balloons the next morning – 3 this time!

Flying home
Clouds look like cotton candy when you fly through them….

Coming into Buffalo over Lake Erie – right near downtown. The big white building in the distance is the field house directly next to Ralph Wilson Stadium (where the Buffalo Bills play).

Landing (I did not properly shut down and stow my electronic device. WHAT?!?!)

(We flew over the Walden Galleria mall at about 25-27 seconds in.)
It was so hot in Buffalo when we got there. Like, it was literally more pleasant in Albuquerque.
Proof:

Feels like it is 5 degrees warmer than the damn desert? Humidity sucks. LOL
Mom picked me up from the airport with the boys and then dropped us all off at home. As we were getting out of the car, an ice cream truck drove down another street. The dude literally through the truck in reverse to hit us up. Since it was hot and I was just home from being out of town, we bought ice cream. Well played, ice cream truck man. Well played. LOL
