My little artist. 🙂

Since Ian is doing Cub Scouts, we thought we’d sign Matthew up for soccer so that they both had their own “thing” this fall. Â The first session was September 28th which coincided with Homecoming for our school district. Â It was a gorgeous day so they had all the sports teams outside for practice/games, had music playing, were doing climbing on the rock wall, selling shirts and other school spirit things, and were giving away popcorn, cotton candy, and sno-cones. Â it was fun atmosphere but the parking lot was complete chaos! Â They had people directing traffic and telling you where to park and it was still complete chaos. Â LOL
Just like when Ian did soccer through the school district, they have the high school coach run the sessions with the varsity team acting as assistants.

I thought soccer was going to be indoors in the gym as it has been in the past and was completely unprepared to be sitting in the sun for an hour. Â Even with my back to the sun, I still got a sunburn on my face, chest, and arms. Â This girl was not built to spend time out in the sun. Â I blame my Irish and English ancestors for that. Â LOL

Water break!

After that, they did a few scrimmage games and water breaks.

My little soccer star.

Ian has been asking to play Monopoly so we got our board game out. Â We played teams since neither boy knew how to play and Matthew wouldn’t be able to keep up without help. Â Matthew lost interested very quickly but the rest of us had a good time playing together. Â We played another game later that weekend and a lot of fun. Â I foresee many games on Monopoly in our future!

(Please excuse the fact that this cell phone picture isn’t remotely in focus. Â LOL)
All ready to go in his class “A” uniform:

Since Ian and several other boys joined Cub Scouts after missing the first year (1st grade/Tiger), they asked the boys to come to the first Tiger den meeting because everyone has to start off in Cub Scouts by earning the Bobcat badge.
To earn the Bobcat badge, Ian and the other boys learned the Cub Scout motto, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and how to show the Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake.
The meeting was led by the Tiger leader and he was super great with the kids.

They covered a ton at the meeting so we’ll probably have to go over it a few times with Ian so he doesn’t forget everything he learned.
Matthew did this all on his own. Â Coloring, writing, cutting, taping all on his own. Â He asked me how to spell “and” and that was it. Â I love that he added more hearts to “mom”. Â <3

A few days later this made love notes for us all.

He’s improved so much since school started.
I love that boy.
