After the Great Holiday Picture Disaster (see next post) and a nice loooong nap, Mike and I decided to take Ian to the Great Pumpkin Farm out in Clarence. Grammy and Papaw Jones were brave and decided to come along for the ride.

Ian was fascinated with all the balloons and amusement rides. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the choo-choo train ride and mini-rollercoaster. I took him on a death-defying ride on a pony and he got to play on a very cool tractor.

A ton of fun and boy was Ian tired last night!

Here are some pictures of our adventure. As usual, more pictures can be found at Ian’s shutterfly website.

We took Ian to Glen Falls for some family pictures for Christmas cards. The photographer, Samara, was really patient which was awesome because Ian acted like a demon. To say it was a disaster would be understating the circus it turned into.

The good news is: NO VOMIT this time.

I had to get this one in writing because I’m sure he won’t do it for long and I don’t want to forget about it.

Ian is obsessed with brushes. Tooth brushes, hair brushes, makeup brushes. If its a brush, he MUST have it. We don’t mind encouraging the brush obsession because we figure it can only do good. Maybe he’ll turn out to be a dentist, hair stylist or makeup artist. 🙂

We really try to encourage the tooth brush interest by getting Ian some super-cool Matchbox cars tooth brushes! The tooth brush is child-sized and has a CAR at the end of the handle. What could be better, right???

Ian has also discovered that tooth paste goes on the brush and he knows just where we keep it. He’ll retreive his brush, go grab the paste and hand them both to us in his little grunting way. As if there was any confusion on what he needed us to do. I mean, do we really need the grunting? 🙂

He’s gotten pretty demanding on getting paste put on his brush. Once he does, he proceeds to suck it off. A little gross but hey, we figure its better for his teeth than a sucker, right?

The best part of the ENTIRE thing is when he BLOWS ON THE BRUSH before putting it in his mouth. Like “I’ve got a hot spoonful of soup” blowing. Its hysterical.

So far we haven’t managed to get the blowing on tape. We tried this morning and this is what I got instead:

You’re getting to the point where we’re going to have to stop counting your age in months and just start counting by YEARS. Where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday we were bringing you home from the hospital.

We registered you for a gymnastics class this month. We go on Saturday mornings for an hour. You run around the gym like the equipment is going to disappear before you have a chance to fully explore every single piece.

Your favorite part of class is the trampoline which I think secretly amuses the heck out of your Daddy. Only one child is allowed on the trampolines at a time so you’re either being a tramp-hog or you’re throwing a fit because we won’t let you on. We distract you with other things (for example: the foam pit of doom) but you always run right back to the tramp.

Last week I made the mistake of showing you something pretty fun. I got on the tramp with you and started jumping a little. I had you lay down to fully enjoy the bounce experience. From then on, it was over. You insisted every visit to the tramp be done in this way. The instructor couldn’t even get you to stand up. It was funny until you threw a fit every single time I got OFF the tramp. I even turned it into a game where you chased me, trying to grab my hand and pull me back on. Hopefully you’ll have forgotten about this for the next class. Before I started this, you were actually trying to jump on it yourself.

Despite getting a free-ride on the trampoline, gymnastics class wears.you.out. We give you a drink and put you in your carseat and you fall asleep in seconds. Ok, it takes longer than seconds but we can tell you’re pretty pooped because when we get you home, you darn near dive into your crib for a nap. I’m talking, limp-limbs-completely-dead-to-the-world-tired. It kinda screws up your nap schedule but we learned our lesson after the first week: if Ian is tired, LET HIM SLEEP!

Your other obsession this month is the movie “Cars”. I’m pretty sure Daddy and I can recite all the dialogue of the movie if somehow the audio broke on the DVD player. We’ve watched this movie so many times in the last month or so that the DVD must be wearing out. You can watch it over and over and over and over. Its replaced JoJo’s Circus and all your other cartoons in your heart. Not to say you won’t take a hit of Little Einstein’s every now and again. But it just doesn’t capture your attention like Cars does.

Like Little Einstein’s, Cars turns you into a bit of a zombie.

Here’s a nice shot of you watching Cars right before changing for bed….I think I see drool coming from your mouth:

You’re so fascinated with this movie, you’d hardly know that you watch it 374 times a week:

I love you big boy!
(Congrats to Aunt Courtney and Uncle Jonathan! They just found out they’re having a bouncing baby boy in February!!!! We can’t wait to see him!!!!)

After gymnastics and a nice long nap, we packed up Ian and drove out to Becker Farms in Gasport NY. It was about a 40 minute drive out there and when we got there it was VERY busy.

Becker Farms was running their Concord Grape Stomp Challenge. Teams were frantically stomping grapes on a stage above the crowd. It looked like a lot of fun and it smelled like grape jelly!

Mike and I took Ian to see some animals in the petting zoo. We checked out a pumpkin patch and an old firetruck. Ian’s favorite part of the day was sitting at a picnic table playing with his cars. Oh well, maybe he’ll be more interested next year!

Pumpkins waiting to be bought

Ian liked this one

It was kinda heavy but he picked it up

Here you go Momma!
