Yes, you read that correctly. 🙂
After our 3rd Annual Nightmare Zoo Visit, we tried to get Ian down for a nap. Having slept 30 minutes on the car ride home, he was having nothing to do with that.
We decided to take him outside to play and maybe wear him down for a longer nap. The sun was beating down and the temperature was pushing 85. (Did I mention its only April?!?!?) We got out the new sprinkler I picked up from Target.
HE LOVED THIS SPRINKLER! We can control the water pressure so it doesn’t spray too hard and he can push it around all he wants. He just ran around it in circles and pointed out all the colors.
Looking tired and not happy about the grass on his feet:
What is with the Buffalo Zoo turning into an annual Samulski Family nightmare?!?!
So, for the third year in a row, Mike and I decided to pack Ian up for a “fun” trip to the zoo. For those of you who many not remember the last two visits, Year 1 (2006) was the year Ian slept the entire time we were there. Not that bad. But, kind of a disappointment. Year 2 (2007), we went with the Colombos. In THEORY this was a good idea, but it really was only so-so. Ian pretty much fought the stroller the whole time and wanted NOTHING to do with the animals. I’m not entirely sure he was even aware that we were there with another family. 🙂
So, we figure, 3rd times a charm, right? WRONG!
We walked in and went right to the sea lion exhibit. Ian loved that. He really enjoyed watching the “wish” in the water and ran back and forth to see the sea lions swim under the bridge he was on.
But that was pretty much it. Definitely NOT worth the $25 we spent on admission and parking.
We spent the rest of the visit trying to point out animals while Ian tried to climb into random strangers wagons. Or, climbed on railings. Or, tried to hitch a ride on the train. Or, do a million other things that received a “NO!” from Evil Mom and Evil Dad. Aaaaah, the life of a two year old…..
We did see the baby rhino…which was adorable. I put a picture below. We didn’t see the 2 baby tigers but that may be due to Ian’s collosal fit versus the tigers not being on exhibit. 😉
I had my 28 week OB appt and my 1 hour glucose test on Tuesday.
I got there and in preparation for my glucose test, I had to chug a can of Orange Crush in fives minutes. Needless to say, the baby loooved that. 🙂
After sitting for a bit they took me back for my regular doctors appointment. My weight was good, blood pressure was DOWN from my last visit (YAY!!!), and in my humble opinion the best news of all: NO PROTEIN IN MY URINE!!! Might not sound like a big deal to most people but the elevated blood pressure and protein in my urine at my last appointment can be a sign of bad things. Having neither this time around was a relief.
Baby’s heartbeat was roughly 144. The doctor had a slightly difficult time finding at first. She was looking up near my belly button. This child has pretty much been located waaaaay lower than that based on where I’m feeling kicks, jabs and pretty much all movement.
I asked about the “breech” comment I noted on the ultrasound picture from last week and she said the baby has plenty of time to turn. If they’re not sure where the head is once I start getting internal exams, then they’ll do another ultrasound to verify. I’m not sure what the course of action will be at that point because she was pretty sure the baby would flip. I guess time will tell.
I went back to the waiting room to wait for my 1 hour to be up….they called me back to do the finger prick for the glucose test as well as a quick sample to check my iron. Both came back perfect so I’m all in the clear there.
I go back in 2 weeks. Can you believe the 2 week appts are starting already?!?!?! 11 weeks to go!!!
