Ian’s Cub Scout pack had their Blue and Gold Dinner at the end of January.
Ian and his BFF Rachel. They’ve been in class together since Prek, both have white stuffed cats named “Snowball”, and swear they’re getting married to each other when they grow up. 🙂

Ian and Rachel
There was a Valentine craft table so the boys could make Valentines to send to our troops. Ian also made one for Rachel.

“Can you be my Valentine?”

“Dear Rachel, Roses are red. Violets are blue. I love you and I hope so too. Love, Ian”
After the potluck dinner, the boys had their fair share of cupcakes. Please note that Ian’s teeth and fingers were stained blue. LOL

Soon it was time for each den to present badges and awards to their scouts.

Showing off his awards!
While we waited for the rest of the dens to finish their ceremonies, Matthew made a cat ear crown thingy at the Valentine craft table. I think it looks more like Easter Bunny ears but he disagreed. LOL

Bunny or cat?
After all the ceremonies were done, the organizers had a juggling act come in to entertain the kids and their families. Matthew got to be part of the show!

It was fun night. The boys had a ball!
Ian had to do a research project this year and chose to do his on the Wright Brothers.

Wright Brothers Project
The project was supposed to be done with parental assistance so he had some help. We went to the library to get some books, looked resources up online (including the pictures shown above from the National Archives), co-wrote an essay on the first flights, printed pictures from our Outer Banks vacation in 2013, and built a Lego version of the Wright Brother’s plane. Ian had to read his paper to the class and passed around his plane and photo album.
He did a great job!
Ian had his first”sleepover at a friend’s house” experience in January. He did awesome!

The boys regularly have their stuffed cats participate in Olympic-esc events to win medals. As you can imagine, the Cat Olympic-related festivities only got more elaborate once the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics began. LOL

My favorite part is that they meow while racing and Ian calls out “on your marks, get set, MEOW!” to start the races. LOL
Rachel and I took mom and dad to see Hunger Games: Catching Fire in January. When we saw this display, I couldn’t resist taking Rachel’s picture. The kids aren’t the only ones excited for the new LEGO Movie!
