I am soooooooo far behind on blogging so we’re going to do a big monthly summary to catch up on March 2014.

March 8, 2014: Matthew wears sunglasses at night.

March 12, 2014: We had another blizzard. Apparently, this car drove up onto a snow bank during the storm. Whoopsie!!!

March 15, 2014: We visited the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester

March 15, 2014: Matthew working on a giant Perplexus puzzle at the museum

March 15, 2014: We can tell you how to get to Sesame Street!

March 20, 2014: Mike met Buffalo Bills Hall of Famer Andre Reed at the 2014 NCAA basketball tournament!

March 23, 2014: Ian participated in his very first Pinewood Derby with his Cub Scout pack. A full post is coming soon on this!

March 26, 2014: I received a hand-made clay ornament that I ordered to match a picture of my parent’s house. Originally planned as a Christmas gift, I decided to give it to my mom on Mother’s Day because I can’t wait to show her. I officially win “Best Daughter” Award even if it’s only in my own mind. 😉

March 27, 2014: Matthew lost his 1st tooth at school! A full post coming soon!

At 8 years old, Ian loves Minecraft (video game), Captain Underpants books, the Lego Movie, and stuffed cats.  He was 54.25″ tall (95th percentile) and 65lbs (79th percentile) at his well child visit shortly after his birthday.  He’s a smart, funny, sensitive little boy and we love him to death.

Ian invited a handful of friends over for a sleepover to celebrate his 8th birthday.  They played video games, had pizza and cupcakes, and then we all went to see The  Lego Movie together.  It was a good time!

Ian and Mike went to a Cub Scout function in February so I took my little guy on a date to see the Lego Movie.

One of the bad things about our house is that it is that its lies right at the end of a big curve in the road.  People misjudge the turn in the road all the time.  Once we had someone crash into our neighbor’s tree in the middle of the night.  The biggest problem is that drivers regularly take the turn too fast and no time is worse than in the winter when the roads can be icy and slick.

I can’t even begin to count the number of times we have seen people fishtail coming around the curve in the winter.  Most of the time this means they slide into the curb or a snowbank.  Once we saw someone slide a bit and bump the street light in front of our house (and since then the light has been slightly tilted).

The worst of all was when we woke up on a Sunday morning this past February with tire marks in our yard.

As you can see, there wasn’t much snow.  Unfortunately, there had been freezing rain and iced over roads during the night.

They even got past the sidewalk and were on the main part of our lawn.

I’m shocked that they missed the tree.

Hopefully the close call will make them slow down going forward.

Thankfully, we were already vigilant about watching cars coming down the street when shoveling, waiting for the school bus, or playing outside in the front yard.  This is why we do it.
