While Mike stayed home with [sick] Ian, I (along with Grammy and Papaw) took Matthew to the Eastern Hills mall tonight for their “Mall-o-ween Extravaganza”. Basically, it’s glorified trick-or-treating in the mall along with a costume contest for those that were interested. The cost of admission was 2 cans of non-perishable food. 🙂
Matthew ran as far and as fast as his little legs could carry him. Well, as much as we’d let his legs carry him. I have no doubt JP Losman would have been proud of his performance. 🙂
A big THANK YOU(!!!!) to Grandma Samulski for the AWESOME(!!!!) football pants that she made. They’re so freakin’ cute and MAKE the costume. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
A few tears over a false start:
(The hand-holding was a cruel punishment to this free spirit. No hand-to-hand contact could contain this boy.)
And he’s off….
Doh! More torture!
Ooooh! Look!!! Shiny things!!!
Assessing the scene…deciding which way to run…
Starting to breathe hard:
Ooooh! Look!!! A garbage can with caution tape!!!
Exhausted but happy after running a few laps. Thank God for strollers!
Me and the crazy boy before going home:
Due to the hectic week ahead, we decided to spend Monday evening carving pumpkins with the boys. Unfortunately, getting the pumpkins CARVED was a challenge.
Ian’s pumpkin was too tough to cut into and Matthew’s took so long that we didn’t have time to carve the others. We’re planning to paint Ian’s pumpkin and carve the other 2 pumpkins later this week.
Here are some pictures of our carving experience from last night….
At first we let Ian clean the pumpkin with his hands. That didn’t last long because it was “too icky” (followed by a tongue out, “yuck” noise) and his hands needed “washed off” after every scoop of pumpkin guts. haha
We gave him a spoon to scoop with but that was pretty useless…
Eventually he just had to sit and watch Daddy do it!
Checking to make sure it was really empty (Look! Matthew was there too!):

Lit up with candles (we had to use birthday candles because we couldn’t find anything else):
