April 2009
Courtney was in town and giving Matthew a bottle. Andrew got jealous and climbed up on her lap.
On top of that, Andrew was desperate for a bottle since he had just turned one and had to give them up. We gave him a straw cup with milk but Matthew ended up being interested in that…so we switched! LOL
Ian was supposed to have a concert a few weeks ago with his preschool class as well as all the other preschool classes from our school district. Unfortunately, the week of the concert coincided with a major bout of diarrhea in our household. We decided to call Ian’s teacher to pull him out of the concert rather than risk a highly embarrassing experience for everyone.
Since he never got up on the big stage with his friends, we asked Ian to sing for us at home.
Here is his performance as well as a little bonus performance by Matthew.
We signed Ian up for Little League t-ball this summer. My big boy will be playing for the Red Sox. π Two weeks ago, we had his first (and possibly, only) practice.
(Since his first practice, it’s pretty much rained or snowed every single day. His second practice was canceled and intended to be reschedule this week. Unfortunately, it’s been raining or snowing all week so it didn’t happen. His last practice is scheduled for this coming Saturday but it’s not looking likely either. His first game is on the 30th so we’re running out of time.)
Ian’s coach spent some time talking to the boys about the two rules to t-ball.
Rule #1: No one swings a bat unless Coach hands them a bat.
Rule #2: No one throws a ball unless the other person is looking at them.
Teaching the boys about the bases:
Catching with flat training mitts to teach them to field with 2 hands:
Catching with real mitts:
More fielding practice with a quick lesson on proper form when fielding:
Learning proper form for throwing:
(Yes, I was snapping pictures while filming this video. Also, please don’t judge too harshly about the “Hey! Watch it!” thing at 2:30 when Ian gets hit by the ball. It’s kinda hard to control what comes out of a 5 year old’s mouth.)
Slight break for a worm sighting:
Coach talking to Ian about his throwing form:
While standing in line to take a turn running bases, Coach teased Ian about his Yankees cap:
Waiting his turn:
Practicing catching a fly ball with Coach:
He caught it!
Post-practice pep talk:
Did anyone else listen to the videos and think Ian’s coach sounds like Mike O’Malley? LOL
On a related note:
While I knew Mike wouldn’t really care that Ian’s playing for the Red Sox, I’ve been completely shocked at how much he’s embraced it. Mike is a die-hard Yankees fan but he really is a baseball lover, in general. He’s so excited and proud of Ian for playing t-ball that he literally doesn’t care that Ian is playing for the Red Sox. π
Ian got his team’s Red Sox cap about a week ago and has worn it constantly. Matthew and Ian have been fighting over it so last weekend we bought Matthew his very own Red Sox cap. While we were out, Mike GOT HIMSELF A RED SOX TSHIRT to wear to Ian’s games. WHAT?!?!? Shut the front door!!!! LOL
It’s another Scavenger Hunt Sunday!
Over the last two weeks, I went on a hunt to find pink buttons at a few craft stores in order to create a cute little Easter decoration. Here are all my leftover buttons. π
