I had my 36 OB appointment and another ultrasound today.

OB portion of the visit was good:
-blood pressure was “perfect”
-weight was good
-urine was good
-baby’s heartbeat was good (160-something during the ultrasound)

I’m still measuring big…roughly around 40 weeks.

The ultrasound showed that the baby’s growth is still consistent with the prior ultrasound. That means the baby is big and consistently growing.

Right now, they are estimating that the baby is 7 pounds 11 ounces. The technician did say that the estimate could be off by 30% (2.4 lbs in either direction). So, we’re talking the baby is in the 5lbs 6oz to 10 lbs 1oz weight range. Right now. At 4 weeks before my due date. Holy moses!!!

Based on the weight estimate and other measurement, they are putting the baby’s development at roughly 39w3d. So, in essence, in terms of my size and the baby’s growth, I have a full baked baby in there.

Measurements of the arms and legs made the technician comment that it was a “long” baby. Now there’s a shocker! 🙂 I’m sure the baby gets that from me! 😉

I had my GB step test and an internal exam done. I’m only a fingertip dialated and the baby is still really high. I’m not sure if I’m even really “that” dialated. Seems like the doctor was just trying to make me feel better. haha

No progress at this point which is okay I guess. I’m hoping things get moving soon-ish. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to tough it out another 4 weeks if this child keeps on packing on the pounds. 🙂

I go back next Thursday…which, if you’ve super observant, you’d know was the exact point in my pregnancy with Ian when my water broke and I went into labor. 🙂

For those you who care:
-my 36 week appointment with Ian was with Dr Rush
-my 36 week appointment with this baby was with Dr Rush
-my 37 week appointment with Ian was with Nurse Cheryl
Guess who my 37 week appointment with this baby is???? You guessed it, Nurse Cheryl!
How strange is that?

By the way, with Ian, I had my 37 week appointment on a Tuesday morning…she told me I could go up to a week overdue based upon my internal exam. 2 days later my water broke. Maybe I’ll have the same luck this time around. 🙂

Ultrasound shots!!!

Profile
Baby’s face is turned toward the left. You can see the noes and mouth and the baby’s arm down below.

Baby’s foot
On left is the heel/ankle. Then you can see the bottom of the foot really clearly with the toes flexed down a little.

ME
Kinda crappy pictures but I’m just too pregnant to care. Mike took these pictures of me outside…hence the siding and random black electrical line. 🙂

The ginormous belly…7 pounds of baby in there:

My ginormous self:

THE NURSERY
The nursery is done and just waiting for a baby!!! We had previously used this room as Ian’s nursery and done all the decor as neutral so there really isn’t anything “new” here. The only thing that is new-ish is the bassinet which we borrowed from some friends…

THE BIG BOY ROOM

I’m so proud of Ian’s new big boy room. I’m really interior-design-challenged and it was a huge struggle for me to pick furniture and decor. Picking the bedding was easy (especially if you know anything about Ian) but the rest of it? A big project to say the least!

I struggled on every decision. Literally every decision. But none were as hard as deciding how to go about hanging the wall decor. Huge shout out to Mom: without her, the wall decor would still be hiding in the closet, unhung.

We got everything up on the walls Sunday night (FINALLY) so….here’s Ian’s big boy room!

His room from the door:
“Rug” on the floor is actually foam squares that we got from Sam’s Club. I have white curtains hanging w/ white sheers underneath:

Finials that are on the ends of the curtain rod as well as the two tie-backs:
Smaller dresser next to closet w/ my fav picture of Ian ever as well as 2 special stuffed animals. AND the letters!!! I PAINTED, BOWED AND GLUED!!!! BY MYSELF!!!! (can you tell I’m a chronic project-starter-never-finisher?)

Taller dresser next to the doorway/across from the window with a few more special pictures and a Tonka lamp that perfectly matches his bedding (I got from Craigslist- my first/only Craigslist steal! woo!). The measuring chart that is leaning on the wall was a gift to us from a friend when Ian was born.

The side view so you can see the ends of the shelf on the wall:
Posters I found online and framed:
Frame hanging over Ian’s bed….Mike’s very good friend Dale bought this for Ian’s christening. Its a single share of Disney stock that has been framed. As we were beginning to decorate Ian’s room, I remembered that we had it in the basement and when we pulled it out, it matched PERFECTLY. I was so excited to be able to finally use it and hang it up.

AND (no picture but I still wanted to share), I got Ian a Disney’s Cars toddler bed sheet set as a backup set of bedding. Between the other “Cars” accessories he has (a mini-Lightening McQueen beanie, a small square pillow, a throw, the Mater nightlight, etc), his room, in the blink of an eye, turns into a Cars themed room. Its like a reversible room!!! haha

Not my favorite picture (hello, double chin) but a rare time when Ian felt like snuggling AND Mike felt compelled to pick the camera up and take a picture.

Friday morning….me and Ian just were plain beat. He came downstairs to snuggle on the couch with me. He curled right up in my legs.

I sure do love that boy. 🙂

Mike and Ian went to go visit Great Grandpa Samulski today for a few hours to give me a break. While they were gone, I decided to go to lunch with mom. When I got back, Ian was in bed and despite being reaaaaally quiet, I managed to wake him up after only 45 mins of sleep.

Grouchy little Ian was a handful so we decided to go to Isle View Park….after a little while there, it started to get really windy and cool and started to sprinkle. We had to pack the little guy up which really made him M-A-D.

Since we were kind of in the vicinity and we didn’t have anything going on, we decided to go to the Niagara Falls Aquarium. Ian was kind of interested in the sea lions but really the visit was a complete waste. $9 each for me and Mike to get in and we were barely there an hour.

On the way home, Ian slept in the car. When we got home, Ian slept on the couch (pictured above). It gave us hope that all that sleeping would result in a refreshed and happy Ian.

When he woke up, he was a grouchy, crabby, cranky, fussy, whine-bucket.

Moral of the story: don’t mess with naptime. For the love of God. Just let the child sleep.

Despite the overwhelmingly not-fun time we had this afternoon, I got some cute pictures of Ian and Daddy at the park.
